Default Bench Testing TM150M

I have a TM150 that I took delivery for a friend. He asked me to test it, but all I have at home is an NSS8. I hooked it up and set it to 83k and I can hear it tick, but I am not getting any depth or temp data.

I stuck it in a 5 gal bucket of water and I was getting inconsistent depth data, but still no temp.

Is there a proper way to test these things? Or is it that I do not have a CHIRP sonar?

I've never tried this before.

Stick it in the toilet. Chirp should show you clearly neighbor flushing 3 floors below.

about all you get is a rough idea if it can find a bottom. After an install or reconnecting I turn mine on over a hard surface to see if it gets a bottom. since it is shooting thru air, the bottom should show up more that twice the distance it is above the surface. Might have to turn the gain up a little, never tried this but in manual gain and range. set range to 10' -15' or so. don't expect any kind of a pretty picture or depth nunber on the screen. You should set the head unit to a frequency that is normal for the transducer. Might be either 80 or 200 , I am not familiar with the TM150.

TM150M for Navico has digital temperature, will not work with first generation NSS.
