My Raymarine package is 10 yrs old and works fine - am I old school? Other than integrated engine guages and touch screens what am I missing?

Nothing wrong having a 10 year old unit that still works.

I still use my older Lowrance LCX units. You get used to operating them, and there is a learning curve with new stuff. Its better to be able to use less capable stuff well than better stuff poorly. Of course, after a few months with the new stuff, you'll be back up to speed. Still learning sidescan.

Ability to add chirp would be the only downside I see, having said that you can now buy one of the newer units that have chirp built in and have a second unit for back up and more capability.

The DSM units have been a little problematic. If the units are holding their own don't mess with them. Once you start sinking a bunch of money into them then it would be time to evaluate the current situation.

Nothing wrong at all. I'm running the earlier generation from your C series gear. I'm running Raymarine pathfinder series radar/chartplotter, dsm 300, smart heading sensor and a 770 sounder.

As long as it's up and running it is staying put. I need to start saving because it is going to be one heck of a cost once things start going south.
