Default Lowarnce elite 7 transducer to use?

I'm getting ready to pull the trigger on the lowrance 7 HDI combo to replace my old (14 yr) furuno fcv-667 and my equally old furuno GPS.

Question is, I am currently using an airmar p66. Do I need an adapter to use that with the HDI? Or should i get a new ducer that supports side scan? which one?

I almost always fish < 100 ft of water I'm looking to spend < $200 on a transducer if I get one.

Thanks for any input.

HDI = Hybrid Dual Imaging, or traditional 2D sonar and Down Imaging. You should get the Lowrance HDI transducer in order to have both views with a single transducer.

OK... so what's the performance difference between the 50/200 XDucer and the 83/200 XDucer? Which one would you recommend for the depth I'll be fishing?
