Default Hummingbird Helix 5 SI - Marine Use?

I pre-ordered a Hummingbird Helix 5 SI to mount on my 14 aluminum boat and kayak. Both vessels are primarily used in saltwater (Long Island Sound).

I noticed in the product description on the Cabela's website that has a IPX5 waterproof rating.

Is this sufficient enough for the marine environment?

It's reasonable to assume that saltwater splash/sea spray will make its way onto the unit. Note that the unit will be stored indoors when not in use.

Yeah, it'll be fine. Cleaning with running water is fine, just don't put the hose on jet an inch away from buttons or seams on the case.

Thanks for the assurance. The Cabela's website is apparently inaccurate. I downloaded the user's manual from the Humminbird website and it indicated that the unit is rated IP67 waterproof and submersible.
