Default Upgrading my Garmin740s transducer

The transom mount transducer I have on the boat is okay but in deep water not powerful enough. I don't remember the model but I'm sure its just 600w. What would be the next step for 600-1000ft that works with the 740s.
Thanks

The 740s is capable of 600 or 1000 watts.

Your next step up is a 1 kw Tm258..4 element and about 25 times more sensitive at 50 kHz than a single element 600 watt P66.
Then you have the 8 element 1 kw Tm260..50 times more sensitive at 50 kHz.

Is it pretty easy to change out the P66 for the TM258? Will it mount in the same location?
Is there anyone that has the TM258 installed that can confirm it reading well in 400-1000ft.
Thanks

I have used both the Tm258 and the TM260 for many years...it will read bottom at 1000'.
You are going to a 4 or 8 elemtn ducer with a full 1 kw.

if you have good operation of the P66 the newer units should work well there also.

Semperfifishing,
When I go to the website it doesn't list the TM258 working on the Garmin 740S.

The website only lists the Garmin transducers in stock by them....the Tm258 is available from Airmar...listed as TM258-6G
