Default Radio and speaker advice needed

So, I have a boat on order, Key West 189FS, and need to decide what radio and speakers that I want. I think I want a fusion head unit, RA205. Just not sure at all about speakers. If money wasn't an issue I would go with JL Audit for sure. But since most saved money went to buy the boat I want good sound at a decent price. At this time, I will not be going with an amp. What speakers do you suggest that will last, sound good and will not cost more than 200 a pair. I did see Wetsounds have some that are decently priced, but concerned I may not have enough power to push them with just using the head unit as the amp. If I am not adding a amp, does it matter. Thanks.

Picked up a new 2015 KW 239 today. I'm in the same situation. JL is the best and a pair of 6.5 is 200. I have to put head in first. With everything that I have read, I have decided to go with the fusion and start with just the two 6.5's. Add more when I can....

Email me for JL pricing you may be surprised, I think the MX6.5 will be well within your budget. We also have the entire Fusion line as well.

The WetSounds Sw65 are designed to be used without an amp.

thanks for the feedback.

Concerning the speakers, will the fusion 205 put out enough power to power 4 JL 6.5's? With all that said, is their any other brand speakers I should consider. Polk, MB quart, pioneer, alpine?

I guess I just need to listen to the JL and Wetsounds running off of a 205 with no amp. Anybody know where I can listen to these two speakers in palm beach county?

No the RA305 is not enough to properly power 4 JL Speakers.

No the RA205 will not provide enough power for those JL speakers.Speakers are very subjective and going from one setup to the next is really no fair way to compare sound. I will say that if you listen to the stereo underway that the Wet Sounds will sound better over the engine noise because of how they are designed. for a good sounding stereo you need to match the speakers with the proper proper supply . An amp is really how you should be going in this situation.

If you need assistance setting up your fusion / JL system please shoot me an email. We will help you get it right and allow you to enjoy the boat. JL Audio is number one in the marine industry for a reason. They are made in the USA and offer a full two year warranty. If you don't want to go with JL I would suggest looking at Fusion. They have a very good speaker line and come with a three year warranty.

thanks for all the advice...what it sounds like, is that if i do not have an amp then the wetsounds or the JL are not the route to go...I guess i will change it up a bit...Does wetsounds or JL make a amp that would accept a BT connection of some type of input directly from my I phone? I don't have to have a actual radio as i will be playing everything off of my phone...

Thanks for all your help. I want to do this the best way i can as money is a factor.

You can add a Fusion Bluetooth adaptor BT100 to any of the JL amps. I would look at a 400/4.

Go with the JL. I've tried other routes in the past and never been satisfied.

amp, bt adapter and 4 Jl's should be a good setup that won't break the bank.
