Default LOWRANCE HDS-5 Gen2 any good?

I've been looking for a new fishfinder and Westmarine has a one day sale for a LOWRANCE HDS-5 Gen2 Fishfinder/GPS Chartplotter with 50/200kHz Transducer for $349, sounds almost to good, makes me think there may be something wrong with them

Jump on it!

At that price it's an excellent deal. If you're not familiar on how to update the unit ask the store to do it for you. Version2.5 and up is needed to fully appreciate the Navionics capabilities.

Thanks, I think I am going to get it, it has to be better then the 2003 LMS that I have now. I don't want to spend to much on a FF anyway, Im always afraid it will just get stolen

GET IT WHILE YOU CAN! That's a great unit, for the money you can't beat it! You'll be getting ALOT more than just an FF, it's a true full blown MFD!

Congrats! I just emailed my buddy, because that's way lower than I could get it even with my associate discount.
You can easily update it yourself, all you need is a blank SD card

That's exactly why, but they've been reduced a couple of times last year, but never this low with a transducer. At our store I think we've only sold 3-4 in the past 3 years, because most people in the 5" market were getting the less expensive Elite or Garmin EchoMaps. The HDS 5 gen2 was more because it is a full featured MFD. WM will sell them as long as Lowrance makes them!

I think lowrance is in full ditch all HDS non-touch models, letting the Elite series take the non-touch and the limited network product options and the HDS be touch and full network. That's definitely a great price. It's exactly what my dad's boat needs to replace the 1998 $100 walmart humminbird model he's using now.

I bought that exact one from West Marine in December for $ 399.00 for my bow. I updated it by watching their YouTube video, pretty easy.

I had one for a year before I sold my boat and it worked well. FYI, I replaced a LMS 330C and it worked with the same power and transducer so I just hooked it up and took off.
