I have used Raymarine for a long time. But I am always willing to try different.
I have a brand new Raymarine auto pilot. I need to be able to connect to which ever I choose.
And I am concerned about transferring way points. As well as the Raymarine compass being read by the MFD I choose.
The two options I have been looking at is Garmin 8000 series or the Furuno NavNet TZtouch.
So I am wondering if switching will cause more problems than it is worth, stick with Raymarine. Or no problem trying something different.

Either of those systems will use your raymarine compass data. You can convert your waypoints at gpsbabel.org. it is a great time to get great prices on either system. Garmin will be easier to use, furuno is a little more customizable and sophisticated.

Well, it is brand new, never out of the box. So there is a chance it could be exchanged. I just do not like doing that to a supplier.
What is the issue with the Raymarine auto?

I don't like the fact you cannot manually tune the pilot whatsoever.....
If you stay with the same manufacturer you will get autopilot control from the plotter too. and if you go Garmin, only the Garmin pilot will steer the auto guidance routes.

I have a Garmin 7212 which will be getting replaced with an e127. I'm very happy with the A128, I replaced this unit from an e127 and will soon have another one. We just installed a new ev-400 system last week, follows the auto guidance well and has a nice set of patterns too.

We have a new complete Ray marine system. We make our living with it.We have 2 C125s, Evolutionauto pilot.RMK 9 keypad,Digital radar, DSM 300(Hungarian made) CP 200 side scan. The equipment is awesome..and I'm picky.Everything plugs in the network switch. It pretty easy. You can see the auto pilot on the bottom of the displays. The RMK 9 keypad is very nice you can work all the displays without touching them. The screen's are bright. The resolution is great.I've run Furuno for 18 years and the Garmin chirp(gsd26)The new Raymarine is very nice.Never used the old stuff. Had Furuno then.Capt.Mike
