Default Simrad NSS connected to Merc gateway...Fuel Level

I installed a Simrad NSS9 Evo2, merc gateway, and N2K kit on my 210 Montauk w/150 four stroke.

I get most of engine information such as rpm, oil temp, fuel burn, trim, and etc. However, I don't get fuel level and engine oil temp information. I went to set up screen and entered engine info and fuel tank size but the fuel level shows 0.

Does anyone know how to show the fuel level? Thanks!

Went through the Mercury brochure and found out oil temp isn't available for 4 stroke motor. Search continues for fuel level.

To get fuel level to work on my Raymarine e7D using a MercMonitor, I had to configure the fuel manager to use NMEA 2000 Gallons Per Hour in the fuel level calculation in addition to size of my fuel tank. Does Simrad have a similar function to Raymarine's fuel manager where you select the source for fuel consumption?

Another girl,
Yes, there's a setup screens to enter the # of tanks as well as the size.
When I set the fuel level alarm (4 gallons as a test), the screen warns me of low fuel.....so, I assume the unit is detecting the fuel level but incorrect amount?

You need a Mercury Fuel/paddle harness. It connects at the engine and runs out to your tank/tanks. This will send the tank level info up the 14 pin harness to the Gateway.

Hi Dave,

Thanks for the info. But I think my tank level information is available at the Gateway because the original gauges (fuel level, voltage, and tech) were connected to the 14 pin harness coming from my outboard. Currently, I'm waiting for a female to female 14 pin connector to hook up the junction box to the original gauges.

Also, I don't know why but my original water pressure gauge is working even after pulling the 14 pin connector.

Same here. I cannot read fuel level on MFD with gateway connected, but the original gauge and vessel view works well. I connected the gateway to joint box directly.

If the fuel harness is not connected to the engine and fuel tank, you will not get fuel level information on your Vessel View.

Don't want to hijack the thread but I'm looking to do the same thing with a NSS 12 EVO2. I have a 2007 mercruiser 8.1 with bravo3 MPI I have analog gauges now. what type of harness do I need for the I/O? Also want to hook up both fuel tanks to it.

I'm a bit confused...

My original setup is
Motor--------14 pin harness ------fuel gage, water press gauge, tach gauge, voltage gauge

Current setup
Motor------14 pin harness ---- junction box----- Gateway ------ NSS9
And Gateway and the original gauges (fuel, tach, water press, and voltage) aren't connected yet. However, water press gauge is working.... Must be a separate connection?

Are you saying that I need to connect junction box and the original gauges in order to show fuel level in NSS?

Are your gauges analog or SmartCraft System Link gauges?

They must be smartcraft links gauges because they are connected to the 14 pin connector.
But water press gauge may not be...
I need to go back to the boat on sat to double check.

Post a picture of your gauges, or email it to us.

You have old analog gauges. They should all still work if you install the Gateway and analog gauge harness to the junction box. Your water pressure still works because it is a manual gauge with a hose leading from the engine to the gauge.

If you want fuel level to display on the Simrad, purchase and install the Mercury fuel/paddle boat harness. Your analog fuel gauge should still function if you connect the pink wire coming from the harness and your original sender + wiring together.

I can see fuel level on my vessel view, but Simrad nss evo2 does not show. My vessel view connects to the smartcraft junction box and the gateway connects a 6 port junction box behind.
