Default LSS2 & overlay data - Lowrance & Simrad

I recall on my last boat when I installed the transom mounted ducer and the LSS2, the instructions were to keep the two within 12" of each other to allow no issues with data overlay.
Well, now it's a different story. Build will have a B175W thru hull and then the LSS2. My issue is that there's not any way to keep these within 12" of each other. Closer to say 18" or maybe further.

Surely others have done something similar so tell me, what issues did you have if any?
Did the overlay work for you? Clue me in!

Bagger out and thanks

Transducers don't know where they are placed. Down scan overlay is just displaying sonar and down scan with some transparency so you see them both. The closer to the same source point the better the image match up, the further away they are the more image divergence you will get. I don't use down scan overlay, but I am sure it won't be the end of the world. Better to have them in the right position than the right position for down scan overlay if you ask me.

Thanks and indeed, the correct position is by far and away more important. I was curious if anything.
