Default Furuno AIS

I have an opportunity to purchase a used Furuno FA 30 AIS and my question is will it work with the TZ Touch and from reading do these units need formatting to an area or unit?

Thanks

It looks like it would over the Ethernet network...

The best place for a question like this is Furuno USA support forums.

The FA-30 will work with a TZT display. In fact, the TZT can even access and control the setup functions on the FA-30. You will need to connect the FA-30 via an ethernet port on the TZT or the network hub if you have multiple devices on your TZT (radar, sounder, etc). Then you will need to configure it for the network and set the TZT to display AIS data. It's pretty simple if you follow the manual.

There is no geographic localization of AIS receivers. It is possible that the internal software on the FA-30 may need to be updated. That is something you need to check but should not be a problem to do if required.

Furuno has excellent technical support, just call them if you have any questions.
