Default New boat transducer question

My friend is building a new 28 whitewater. He has elected to go with a garmin 1040xs due to its down and sides can capabilities as well as the ease of operation for the plotter and any enhancement the chirp system may provide. The other machine will be a dedicated sounder. A furuno 295. The boat is not big enough really for the 2 or 3 kW ducer so I'm guessing a 1 kW? Will be using the 295 for serious bottom discrimination so a narrow cone option is best. For the garmin probably looking for a wider cone because with that machine we will be looking for fish rather than bottom. What do you folks have to say about the best options for these units?

For the 1040xs and fishing under 300' then the B75M.
If also fishing deeper.. than the B175M.

For the FCV295 how deep will you need to see?
The FCV295 works best with a tunable transducer....and you can also use any of the CHIRP transducers for the FCV295.

B175 for the garmin. Thank you

90 percent of our fishing will be in 600 or less. But I'd like reliability out to about 1200. I know the 587 might be enough for our needs but the capabilities of the 295 along with the screen size afford some possibilities that can't be ignored in my opinion. Spending 150k on a boat and skimping on electronics ain't the way to go in my opinion.

The key to the FCV 295 is using it with a tunable transducer...that way you get it's full benefit.

For the FCV 295 for reliability to 1200' would look at the B265C-LM.
If you don't want to use the fairing..you can pocket mount.
