Default NSS8 Connection Potential Problem

This past winter I put a new NSS8 on my skiff. Turned out to be a great move and very happy with the system.

However, I am having an issue that I am very concerned is going to lead to a big problem. Being on a skiff, the unit is out there for the world to see so when I have it at my house I remove the unit each day and keep it in the house. Several times now I have had some difficulty when I try and hook it back up. If the blue connector is not PERFECTLY aligned the pins will bend and there is no way to connect it. I have to get a small screwdriver out and gingerly bend the pins back perfectly straight. I have had to do this three times now, as careful as I am about connecting it. I am afraid that one of these days a pin is going to break off and I will be out the system for awhile.

Anybody else have this problem or got any ideas of an easy fix? I really do not want to leave the unit installed as it just makes too easy a theft target. Everything else is removed and in the house or in a locked storage cabinet.

You can add a transducer extension cable to get a new start and then be very careful when connecting and disconnecting the transducer cable.

The blue connector is originating from Lowrance and is a 13-14 old design, it's robust and a lot of people disconnect this connector for every use without problems.

Anybody used the durasafe lock on their bracket? I realize its not foolproof but it my be enough a deterent to give me some piece of mind. In general, when the unit is left on the skiff its at my house and at night, at least, we are always at home and if anybody was messing around with it the dogs would go nuts (their kennel is 30' away.)
