Default For autopilot on I/O boat, best to use hydraulic steering?

I would like to install an autopilot on my boat, sometime this coming winter. I have a 24' boat with a Volvo SX outdrive and power assisted steering. I am not excited about the cheesy feel of the current cable steering system.

Is the best method to switch to hydraulic steering?

Here is some info on the Teleflex components:

Any recommendations welcome, regarding both the pilot and the steering system.
