Default Trickle charger for 2 batteries

do you need 2 seperate trickle chargers for 2 batteries? Or do you just put it on 1 and leave the perko switch on all? Thanks

"smart" trickle chargers which go into float mode automatically, have gotten so cheap, there's no excuse not to use one for each battery. I use inexpensive Yuasa brand ones, which are sealed and potted with epoxy or something...one on the motorcycle, one on the portable Generac, two on the boat batteries.

Or, a Battery Tender Jr.

Prices are only about $25, and cheaper on eBay, for 1.5 amp. versions.
The 800 ma. ones are even cheaper.

The one on my Generac is 12 years old, and still maintaining the same AGM battery for
all these years.

It really depends on the charger, but at Karl says they have become cheap. A smart 2 bank charger that chargers and maintains ( trickle) is usually the way to go. I have them for about $50.

Keep in mind AGM's are usually ok for a trickle if they are fully charged. If an AGM needs an actual charge and trickle can hurt it. Just check the specs from the battery manufacturer.

thanks!

should have been more specific. I will need to use solar. Just trying to keep it as simple as possible.

No real experience there myself. I know there are devices that will manage the power distribution for you.
