Default simrad 3G

Called tech support this a.m. about my 3G radar. My nse12 would not find the unit. They told me to pull it off and get them the serial numbers for an RMA. When i pulled the unit down I could hear water splashing around inside. (no cracks in housing...) Will drive the unit up to N.H. on monday and see what they have to say about it. It is 6 mos out of warranty.
Will let you guy's know how they treat me. I was quoted $720 to repair or $990 to upgrade to 4g.

Look at the black rubber seal around the middle. And if those are your final choices, $270 to upgrade to 4G is the way to go.

Yup. The seal looks mint. Plus when I roll the unit on its side no water leaks out by the seal.

When you take it down, look very closely for cracking around the mount holes.

Yup no cracks. No cracks anywhere. And I cannot get the water to come OUT anyway I turn it.

Make sure you check the warranty on the upgrade 4G unit.

I had an LWX-1 go bad, out of warranty, and was able to upgrade to a WM-3 for about half the cost. I wasn't told it had a short (6-month) warranty and only found out when I went online to register it.

Not sure I would have chosen differently, but would have been nice to know in advance.
