Default Internal GPS Powered Weather Radar?

I've searched but wasn't able to come to a definitive conclusion. The Navionics app on my iPhone works via the internal GPS, so it's not restricted by the limited range of cellular service offshore.

Is there a similar app for weather radar?

RadarNow! or NOAA Weather both have radar apps.

The GPS does not give you the weather radar....the cellular data does. The navonics charts are preloaded on your phone, and the GPS will show your location out of cell phone range on the chart. But you cannot get data from the satellites on your phone....only location.

Ok, that's exactly how I understood it...I read a few somewhat confusing comments and wanted to be sure I wasn't missing out one some "new" technology!

That would be nice Commocean. It is confusing.

The Iridium Go would be a partial solution....limited satellite data hotspot wherever you are....can even use your iPhone to make calls through it.
