Default Hooking up relay to yellow alarm wire on Garmin GPS

The Garmin wiring diagram is confusing me on how to connect a relay for the external alarm.
Does the yellow wire just provide current for the relay coil and then the relay contacts provide power for the horn or light. And would I need to install a diode to the line side of the relay.

Yes the yellow wire provides the current to the replay coil. The max current for the relay coil can be 100Ma max. The alarm circuit switches to low voltage when the alarm is activated. If you would like to use both a light or a horn you can put a switch in the mix.
