Default VHF inline fuse amp

Would a 5 amp fuse be enough for an inline fuse for my vhf, or does it need to be more?

What does your VHF manual say? It will give the power input, sometimes in watts, but if it does, divide by 12 and that will give you the current draw. Go to the next highest fuse rating and make sure the wire can handle the load.

^^^^^. Look at manual or website for specifications. Common spec. Shouldn't be hard to research.

I think you will find that a 25 watt transmitter will draw 5-6 amps, so no, 5 wouldn't cut it.

7.5 is typical but please confirm with the installation manual.

My Standard Horizon doesn't specify a fuse rating, but it includes a spare 6 amp ...

Yea I read quickly while at work today and noted most suggested 6 amp. When I have a bit of time I will try and find my manual online, its a Uniden. Had a bunch of 3 and 5 amp.fuses laying around.
