Default Spot Crap?

I just registered 2 devices on the spot website.

1st things 1st.
They advertised that if you bought one they would refund the entire price on the unit. Well, Cant find rebate input anywhere

2nd
Tried on a Mac and a PC to register these items and finally got done with that and proceeded to generate a profile and the website grays out?

Cant enter half the data and there is no save button.

I call myself being competent on a computer but, has anyone else has this type of mickey mouse problem? I am hoping the site is just down.

However, based on what you guys say will determine if I need to send these boys right back to West Marine.

What say you?

Send them back and get a Delorme InReach SE - tracking and two way texting is awesome. My wife likes getting pings at home on her phone with our location. A lot of the time we are fishing where there is no cell service so having sat texting is really nice.

Which Spot devices did you buy. I have two Spot Traces and have had no problems with them or the website.

Mark

Having the ability to do two way texting is really the ticket when out of cell phone range. Not quite as nice as a sat phone but way less money.

You will like it.

Had the SPOT for a number of years and got the DeLorme Inreach SE last year and it works great. 2 way texting is the selling feature for me and gives the wife piece of mind when I'm gone for a couple of days.About the same monthly fee. No worrys registering the unit just make sure you get the correct site.

Yeah,, I am speaking more of the website. I could not do any of the editing necessary to get everything set up correctly. Personalized text and adding mobile numbers etc..

Emailed Customer service and still no response.

I think they're fine but, I am going go another route for the one I carry. I am keeping the Spot Track as mentioned above

I've had the SPOTTY Connect for a few years. I had to get on the phone with tech support to complete the original set up. I found it to be quite awkward, and I wouldn't doubt that it still is. I subscribed to the tracking service and the unit performed flawlessly for the first year or so, then it became erratic: difficulty pairing with my iPhone, shutting down unexpectedly, just what you don't want in a safety device.

At one point, tech support walked me through a hard reboot, and that helped for awhile. On my last fishing trip, it would not pair despite about 30 attempts, so I couldn't begin the track progress function (which my wife relies upon). I was about to literally throw it in the trash, but I gave it one more chance. A few days later, I took it for a drive in my truck. I paired it instantaneously with my iPhone, and started tracking. When I got home, I checked my computer and the unit had worked perfectly.

Now you know why I'm calling it SPOTTY.

Perfect example of the last poster as to why get the Delorme instead of the Spot. You can get a verification from the person your sending it to if you need to. So you always know if it's working.

Have not had an issue at all with my Spot Trace; neither registering and getting it going on their website, nor with tracking. Whenever the boat moves I get an email and text a few minutes later with info. The app has also worked just fine for me.

Good for y'all.

It's not worth taking screenshots but, tried with Macbook Pro and Windows machine and could not get the information in for two days now.

Glad you had good luck though!
