Default Speaker location, need opinion.

I am in the process of adding additional speakers to the boat. It's a 26 Angler and currently has two speakers on the forward cockpit wall facing aft. I will be adding two more to get better sound throughout the boat and have two options.

I can mount them on the side walls of the gunnel facing the middle of the boat about mid ship even with the center of the console

I can mount them on the aft side of the console facing aft

I am trying to determine which spot would help fill the boat with sound. My fear is the gunnels mid shape won't reach the rear of the cockpit.

Leaning towards 4 JL audio 8.8's

Thanks!

8.8s not worth the jack. If you can fit an 8 you can fit a 10 and get real bass. Facing in will fill the boat better than facing out.

I have a friend who has an Angler 26 with JL's. dont think they are the 8.8s. He has a great sounding system. I'll ask him how, what, and where he has mounted and get back to you.

Tough call. If you can see the ones on the side of the boat while at the helm then I think that is a good spot. The ones on the backside of the console are too close to you, but will be better for the people in the cockpit while underway. Make sure you get a good amp of you are getting 8" speakers. Be sure to check out the Wet Sounds SW808 speakers. Sound better, are built better, and cost less than the ones you mentioned. But you can't go wrong with JL either. We sell both if you want to order online.

The new 8.8 are a component full range speaker. Not a subwoofer or I would agree.

Interesting, how do they hold up?
