Default inverter stuck in idle mode

I have a Heart Interface (now Xantrex) Marine 25 inverter/charger that is no longer putting out AC. The charger side seems to work OK and the inverter will transfer AC through to the breaker box when connected to shore power. I think the unit is about 12 years old.

When I disconnect shore power and push the "invert" button, there's no AC output, but the "invert" LED is on and the "charge" LED is blinking...according to the owner's manual, that is idle mode.

I tried a hard re-set (disconnect all AC and batteries) yesterday after talking to the manufacturer, but that did not seem to change anything. Does anyone have any advice for un-sticking idle mode, or is this inverter/charger toast ?

At 12 years old it is likely on its way out. Especially if you use it alot.
They have good customer service at Xantrex. Did you contact them?

I did talk to Xantrex yesterday and today; I have to say they were helpful and willing to talk me through my questions. I had to run to the boat last night to do the hard re-set (not described in owner's manual...top secret) and then report on what happened.

Any suggestions/recommendations on what to replace with ? Or is this worth getting repaired ?

If it can be repaired, I would only trust the factory to do it. Usually cost exceeds value, but they can tell you that. I would encourage you to first check and trust only them for this type of work.

I get charger/inverter units in all the time, but I am out right now. I have had good luck with with the ProMariner branded Combi units. If you want a separate charger and inverter, feel free to email or call me and I can make suggestions from my inventory. This would be a fraction of the cost of a combi unit.
