Default Garmin Touch Screen Getting Hot?

Echomap 70 DV. Gets almost too hot to touch. Still functions and did not notice this the last couple of times out. I have it in an open shaded spot in the console with plenty of room on the sides and top. Wires all are clean, dry, and new condition.

I am probably going to call garmin today but wanted to throw this out there to ask if others have noticed this.

Touchscreens do tend to get warm occasionally, but not to the point of not being able to touch them. Were there any other factors contributing to the heat of the unit? Sunlight can be scratched off the list, but what about if it is really humid where you are all the time.

I would still give Garmin a call and ask them how they would proceed with the matter though.

Default ...

Nope, not humid. It was a dry day, 70-75 degrees, and we were trolling at 2.5 MPH. I did notice that the map detail either sucks for the US lakes maps or the sonar was having issues as I was having inconsistent readings and map data. I know this section of the lake well and neither the map nor the sonar were accurate. This was either a coincidence, part of the problem, or just a side affect of the heat/overheat. I checked all connections and conditions of wiring. All AOK.

I did call Garmin today and they want me to send it in. I'm bummed as I was heading to the south side of cape cod this weekend. I guess I will have to put my 9 year old lowrance back on the boat. Kind of funny that fishfinder has been through maybe 5 replacement transducers, 4 boats and 3 kayaks. As much as I hate it I love it.
