Default Blown up the LSS 1 !!

I recently fitted the LSS 1 module to my boat and inadvertently wired up the blue wire in the power cable alongside the red to the positive. According to the instructions the blue wire isn't used and should have been taped back! The unit wont now power up and no lights show at all on it. Iím assuming it was the wiring issue, however I purchased the unit 2nd hand and so I havenít ever seen it powered up before so maybe I purchased a dud!
If it was the blue wire issue any suggestions as to how to get it repaired?

Thanks for any suggestions

Did you hook up the yellow wire?

Hi No managed to get that bit right - Black to Negative, red to Positive (along with the blue by mistake!) and yellow not used.

Yellow is used. It should be either hooked with the red which will make your LSS1 permanently on when the LSS1 has power, or hook it to the yellow wire of your HDS and your LSS1 will turn on when your HDS turns on. If yellow is disconnected (like now) it will always be off.

AAh! Thats great news. My reading of the instructions was that using the yellow wire was optional so I didn't connect it. I'm at the boat tomorrow so will try this (fingers crossed)
Thanks for the advice

The option with the yellow is how you hook it up. Think of the yellow as the on/off switch. When it gets power it turns the unit on. So if you hook it to the red, as soon as the red gets power then the yellow gets power and the LSS1 turns on. Another option is to hook it to a switch to turn on the LSS1 by switch. You can hook it up to the yellow wire on your display, and when the display turns on it powers the yellow wire which will turn on the LSS1. The yellow wire is a common source of confusion.
