The main reason I'd go with the GSD 24 is future-proofing. Most of Garmin's 6-pin sonar stuff is being phased out in favor of the blue 8-pin connectors. The GSD 22 is 6-pin, the GSD 24 is 8-pin.

Easy decision, GSD22 is a lousy fishfinder, GSD24 is a good fixed frequency fishfinder.

The GSD 24 is an excellent digital sonar... the GSD- 22 only if it is free ..and they throw in a years supply of beer.

What you gain is greater bottom detail....faster tracking and most of all ..far better target detection capability.

Single element , 600 watts.
Mostly effective for targets (Fish) under 300'...can read bottom deeper.
Very reliable and in wide use.

So it depends on your fishing paramaters...if one is fishing deeper.. the GSD 24 can also use a multi element 1 kw dcuer.
