Default Garmin GDS 22

I have a Gamin GDS 22, I'm not sure what the transom mounted transducer is but I'll bet that is lower end. The display is a Garmin 4210 and the sonar images are not great. I was wondering if a better transducer would help but I'm not sure what would be best. I fish western Long Island Sound where water depth rarely goes beyond 200ft. Any thoughts?

Probably a 600 watt ducer similar to a p79. Nothing wrong with it but the 22 is not the best ff on the market.

First step is to make sure you have the latest firmware update on the 4210 and gsd22. Then check the gain settings and make sure you aren't set on auto low when you need something else. Or vis-a-versa.

Then if the problems are still there you can try a new ducer hung over the side to see if it helps. A gsd-24 would absolutely help.

I had a B60 with my GSD22 and it was adequate for striped bass fishing in waters less than 120'. P66 is the transom mount version

The firmware is up to date on both units. I was thinking the same about a gsd24, maybe I'll get one during the off season.
