Default Garmin echo map 70 s question

I purchased a garmin echo map 70 s with the Garmin gcv 10 downVu/ sideVu BB Sounder w/ xdr. Also purchased the down view trans. I'm putting them on a sternmate transducer mount. Am I correct in assuming I have to mount the downVu/ sideVu lower than the downvu or will the side view work with downVu on same level?
Thanks,

You have the GCV 10 and its included 010-12089-00 DownVu / Side Vu transducer..
And the 010-10272-10 transducer also?

Do you have the 70dv or the 70s?

Correct..mount the DownVu/Side view lower mount than the other transducer.

Yes I have both. I have the echomap 70S , GCV 10 black box with down-vu and side-vu scanning sonar , 010-01156-00 and the trans mount transducer 200/50 kHz dual freq., depth / Temp 010-10272-10. The salesman at the Garmin Store told me I needed both.

Good....those 2 will be fine.

The reason I asked is that in your post you referred to both transducers as "downvu".....and Garmin does have 2 different DownVu transducers.

If your second ducer had been the 010-12087-01 All in One DownVu... it would not have worked with the 70s.
And I have seen several times where others have tried to use that with the 70s......as it can be confusing at times.

Ok thanks,
What would you recommend as to how much lower. I'm assuming I still have to keep the lower one even or just a little above bottom of boat. This is all so confusing.

Correct ...both should have the same mounting relationship to the transom.

I would not mount them too close side by side....6"-8" or more seems to work best.
