A buddy of mine just got one and it is freezing on the boot screen. He is struggling to get it replaced. Found a lot of issues on this model. Do a search. Recommend the HDS instead, especially if using more offshore. I really enjoy mine!

Also look at the Simrad NSS7evo2 and the Garmin 741xs..both are CHIRP.

so if i go with the 741xs and bundle it with the gcv10 will it give me my tradition blue screen sounder with chirp as well as the side vu and down view all from the same transducer. this new technology has me lost.

The GCV10 has a long skinny hot dog like transducer for side V and down V. You would need another transducer such as the B150, TM150, B75, or B175 for the traditional blue screen sonar (and it will be a much better blue screen sonar than you are used to).

Furuno 1870F for offshore as it is a 1kw unit. Not CHIRP but an excellent fish finder that does well at marking fish! Furuno reliability and durability too.
