Default hds and hdi transducer(83-200, 455-800)

Hi all. Long time reader just signed up.
Have a quick one for the lowrance experts out there. I have read that the transducer above ( sold with the ellite dsi) can be used with the broad band sounder in the hds units. What is the advantage of this? Will this enable the hds to use down scan like the ellite or will it just use the 83-200hz side of the transducer as normal?

If you have a first generation HDS or HDS Gwn2 it will just be like an ordinary HST-WSBL 83/200 kHz transducer, when combined with HDS Touch the HDI transducers will also support DownScan.

I'm using this with my HDS Touch and really like the traditional and DownScan capability with a single transducer.

So for my hds5x gen2 it will be the same as my standard transducer. I'm thinking of getting a hds7 touch latter but it will have the side scan transducer as well as no need for it there ether. Thanks all for your input.
