Default Lowrance Setup

Ok, with all of the components available and not being up to speed on what units do what, I need some help coming up with a product list.
I essentially have a blank slate as I have an old Lowrance LCX16 with a shoot thru ducer that's not working properly.
I'm looking to have a single unit (hds touch 12 or 9) mounted on gimble underneath a hardtop/t-top. Looking for typical sonar functions needed for I sure fishing and depths up to 250" tops. Side scanning a possibility. Possible radar due to fog here in Se La area.

So what do I need? Also, any additional modules? Nmea? Would also like to connect to my etec, which is in analog gauges.

I just to put together a parts list and understand what's the costs if I go this route.

Depends on budget, but bigger is always better. Start with the HDS touch unit, this can come bundled with the sonar transducer and structure scan transducer: Insight USA + 83/200 + StructureScan HD (PN 000-11280-001 $2,399 MSRP). From there you'll need a NMEA2000 starter kit plus to connect your engine to it (69.95 MSRP). After that, its like lego, you just add the bits you need and connect them with with either ethernet (satellite weather, radar) or NMEA 2000 (Sonic Hub, Fuel Flow, fuel level, temp, etc)

Have a good think about what you want the system to do before you pull the trigger as it's best to buy it with the end goals in mind. Talk to some of the HT supporters to help you figure out the best avenue for you. All of the guys that regularly post here and are sponsors are a depth of good information!

Let us know what you decide on and as always, post pictures!

Ok, so I'm looking to do the following:
Utilize one unit - touch 9 or touch 12"
Radar capabilities - for the foggy days and weather
Basic mapping features
Sonar: shallow water fishing primarily with occasional near shore rig fishing (less than 250ft)
Engine monitoring
VHF integration

Get the 12, it's an awesome screen size and resolution - BOE has a great deal on the HDS12m right now packaged w/ the sonarscan box, Lss2 'ducer, & Navionics mapping.

You will appreciate the additional screen real estate when splitting it up to do multiple tasks.

How about the transducer? What's the suggestion here? Also, can the radar just plug into the back of the touch hds unit? Trying to understand if I need additional components? Or if all the items I've listed will plug into the back of the hds unit

Also, would the lss2 side scan ducer be useful in shallow water fishing?

The radar is on the network. It comes with the junction box you need to plug it into the network.

I know - I am pretty tempted to sell my HDS10 g2 that I have only used a couple times to grab that package.

My opinion is the M series is a good way to go, with all the add on modules available, and networking.
My HDS 9 is an M series, and I use it mainly for sonar.
First time I have ever seen the 12M available in the U.S.
