Default New garmin transducer?

I have a 1040xs with the GCV10 and am ready to pull the trigger on getting a thru-hull chirp transducer. I already have the transom mount side-vu transducer .
I've heard rumors about a new thru-hull downvu transducer, I'm just wondering if this is worth waiting for. The downvu on my transom mount seems good enough for me as it is now, so I'm wondering if there is any advantage to whatever is rumored to come out vs just getting either a 175h-w or B150M (I'll inquire about those in a separate thread).

thanks!

I am not going to confirm or deny any rumors. However, if the transom mounted down/vu sidevu ducer is working fine for you then I would leave that in place. A good upgrade path would be to get a B150M or B175H Wide. I'll assume you have an outboard boat. A thru-hull sidevu ducer like Lowrance has available requires a fairing block and is not ideal on small boats. transom mount is best. Now if you have a bigger inboard boat then that changes everything.

I'm mainly looking for better fish-finding and traditional sonar, so that is what I was thinking as well. I made a separate thread about the different x-ducers and specifically the two you mentioned.

The only advantage I could see is if the thru-hull was the equivalent of a b150m or b175h-w while also having downvu (so it would just be simpler with less parts).

It is a small outboard boat (23' Carolina cat) so I think your hit the nail on the head thanks.
