Default Not marking fish at cruising speed? Normal? Or tweaks necessary?

I've got a GPS Map 50dv, which I used for the first time the other day. I have clear, sharp screens on both sonar and Down Vu at 30mph, but no fish, and I know I'm going over some because I see them when I slow down. Are there adjustments that I should make?

Curiously, I thought I had read on other posts that dv/ss doesn't work at higher speeds. Mine does.

Sure you could adjust the throttle a lot lower or change setting to Simulate. J/K.

It sounds like you are doing better than many sonar owners already. FWIW, My old Lowrance F/F shows bottom detail very clearly at cruise with clear screen above except for perhaps a thermocline, but about the only times I have seen fish (with older conventional sonar) at cruising speed it was either dense schools or large fish like tuna. Whales and dolphin can certainly get your attention.
But in general , I'd note that your best chance would likely be to manually max out scrolling and ping speeds, minimize noise rejection and raise gain as best you can while keeping a fairly clear screen.
And different type fish can allow best returns at different frequencies.

Increase scrolling and ping speeds. Increase noise rejection and gain incrementally. I'll try that. Thanks.........

I believe he said to decrease noise rejection.
