Default problem with smart gauage voltmeter

I have a mercury 6.2 horizon the voltmeter is giving low readings when engine is running checked it with another voltmeter connected to battery. the smart meter read 12.2 the other read 13.3 . When the motor is at idle smart gauge reads 12.6 when I increase engine speed the meter goes down to 11.9. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Just an observation but it seems to me that most all of the electronic stuff that displays voltage at the helm will indicate a lower voltage than what is measured directly on the battery. Certainly there is some voltage drop in the wiring but that does not explain the difference that is usually seen on a MFD or an engine makers instrument.

Now your device showing a lower voltage when the engine speed is increased is really a mystery. What are you seeing directly at the battery when the engine is at an idle versus when the engine speed is increased?

Yes measure at the back of the Voltmeter to check it m not at the battery.
