It's a great unit, I would get two and forget the Furuno myself they are a bargain right now.

I just put an NSS7 in console and an NSS8 on a bracket just above it. Couldn't be happier with ease of use and features. Getting my side scan and B150M installed Friday. Will post pics as soon as I can get on the water. X2 on Stiletto's comments on bargains. Not sure if the rebate is still going on, but I just got my rebate cards for the two units I purchased, which knocks a total of $400 off the price.

I just installed an NSS8 on my boat a few weeks ago, and really like it so far...I've owned Garmin, Lowrance and Raymarine in the past...Believe it or not, the 8" screen is a big step up over a 7" screen...

I went to West Marine to check it out, and the touchscreen sold me, along with the fact that it also offers standard controls, which is the best of both worlds...I don't know that I could ever go back to a unit without touchscreen...

I'm still a big fan of Garmin's maps, but Navionic's is a close second, so I just ordered a Navionics chip for it...

Yes you can use your current B164, you need to cut off the Furuno connector and splice in a blue 7-pin Lowrance pigtail connector.
