Default Lowrance HDS12

I seen this at a boat show and was SUPER impressed.

Now the question is, has anyone used this before? If so, what is your input on it.

Is there another electronic that compares to this that is cheaper?

I, like many others had nothing but trouble with the HDS12. I sent it back to Navico and it was determined defective. They sent me a new one in the box which I promptly sold. I now have a Simrad NSS8 and have ordered a Simrad NSS 12 EVO2. I completely lost faith in the unit after all the issues with it.

Google: Lowrance HDS Touch problems OR just go over to BBC Central and read on. For some reason, the HDS 12 was really affected and just plain bad. They must have lost their azz replacing these units. Another member here that I spoke to a while back sent me a PM this morning and he's calling Navico today.

Have an HDS9 Gen2. Not impressed with perfomance in 200ft. water. Not impressed with Navico. 1st unit failed after 3 weeks. Took Navico 3 weeks to decide to replace the unit, after it was sent to them.

If you are not happy with the performance at 200' you have chosen the wrong transducer.

On the flipside, im pretty impressed with the performance in 300 feet(deepest we can cod out here) with the stock 83/200 skimmer!
