Default considering new sounder/gps - Garmin

Hi all, I have a GPSMAP 3206 and GSD 21 that have served me well, but I have been thinking about upgrading recently and wanted some opinions on the echomap 70DV or other lower cost units (<$1500 total cost). I have a small 18' CC and fish entire inshore in depths from 20-150' 95% of the time. Is there much advantage to these new units over what i have now as i looks like the echomap (500w) is less powerful than my GSD 21 (600w)? Probably doesn't matter at the depths I fish maybe. The down view looks interesting, as well as the potential to add chirp if i really want to go overboard. Worth spending a grand for modern tech, or not a significant upgrade? What say you THT?

take a look at the NSS 7 evo 2 http://www.thegpsstore.com/Simrad-NS...FRAV7AodFEQAUA
i just put the 9 on my boat. I really like all the options you can add. it also has a built in gps reciever which is nice. I am in the process of addint the sonic hub, chirp and structure scan.
