GPSMAP 5212 and 8212 marine networking issues

Just replaced one of my Garmin GPSMAP 5212's with a new GPSMAP 8212. Previously had a par of 5212's. Also have a GSD 24, Standard Horizon Matrix GX2100 VHF and Heading Sensor and GMR404.
The original 5212 has a GPS17 GPS antenna directly wired, and also a heading sensor on NMEA 0183 Port 1 and a GX2100 VHF on NMEA 0183 ports 2 (low speed) and 3 (high speed)and on NMEA 0183 output port 1. The VHF provides DSC and AIS to the 5212 and the 5212 provides position to the GX2100.
Both MFD's are up to date on software, 8212 on 4.2 and the 5212 on 7.70 and connected directly via Garmin Marine Network cable.
Both MFD's and the GSD24 show up on Garmin Devices list on both MFD's so they see each other no problem.
Have the following Garmin Marine Networking issues.
With the NMEA 2000 network turned off the 5212 does not provide GPS17 information to the 8212 through the marine network, heading sensor information, or DSC or AIS information to the 8212. With the pair of 5212's this information was provide by the Garmin Marine Network to both MFD's.
With the NMEA 2000 network turned on the 5212 provides GPS17 information and heading sensor information by bridging NMEA 0183 to the NMEA 2000 network to the 8212, but I do not get DSC or AIS information with this NMEA 2000 bridging option to the 8212.
If I connect the new GPS19X GPS antenna to the NMEA 2000 network I do get GPS information to the 8212 that way, but I want to be able to use the GPS 17 as a automatic back up to the Marine Network. It does switch automatically to the 5212 for GPS information through the NMEA 2000 network, by why not the Garmin Marine Network.
Also if I put the Garmin g2 Vision card into the NMEA 2000 Garmin card reader it only shows up on the 8212, not the 5212. And of course if I put the Garmin g2 Vision card into the 5212 card slot it only shows up on the 5212, not the 8212.
I will call Garmin support first thing Monday morning, but thought somebody out there may have already been through this before me, or one of the Marine Electronics techs may know how to correct this issue. Maybe this is a know networking issue between the 5212 and 8212.
Of course I do have all the NMEA and Garmin sentences turned on in the 5212.

Well the 5212 software update 7.5-7.6 seems to indicate it networks with the 8000 series
Changes made from version 7.50 to 7.60:
- Added support for networking with 8000 series

ive got the same setup. plugged everything (radar, gsd 26, GPS) into the 8212. only cables going to the 5212 are a N2K drop and a garmin network cable to the 8212.
only thing it will not share is waypoints between the 2.
edit:
oops, just realized i am running everything through my N2k network. not same problem. but i do have an extra 19x GPS antenna that i would like to hook directly to the sounder instead of through the N2k. will be checking in.

Do both GSD24 and GMR404 work on both MFDs? If yes, it is not network cable problem.

With the most current update the 5212 now updates with the new SD card reader and 8212. Previously I had to put the update card in the 8212, and than after that finished put the update SD card into the 5212 to get all devices on the network to update.
Most appreciated, not sure of any additional network compatibility updates between the card reader, 5212 and 8212 yet. If I find any I will add to this post.
