Default Simrad unit for a new build...recommendations

I've still have a couple months till my new build is ready for electronics but I need to make decisions now and get round to buying it all over the next month. I mostly dive and spearfish but do enjoy taking folks out to fish (various types).

I'm looking for a combo unit that will have gps, chartplotter with good charts for my area and good sidescan/downscan performance in up to 350' (saltwater) and good fishfinding down to about 1000' along with general shallow water use. I especially need to accurately anchor on deeper wrecks and structure. Currently trying to decide between an NSS8 or the 7 evo2. Where I really get lost is in the transducers I'll need. Are there any sidescan ducers that can be through hull mounted?

What 'recipe' (unit, black box, ducers, etc) will I need for those Simrads?

Thanks!

ps. What would provide similar capabilities/price point from Raymarine?

NSS8 with SonarHub, LSS-2 transducer and B175M CHIRP transducer would be my recommendation.

I would prefer NSS8 over NSS7 Evo2 due to the larger screen. A 7" screen is too small for charts, ordinary sounder, DownScan and SideScan.

What about the HDS8 g2 over the NSS8? Haven't looked at the Lowrance lineup yet.

And the LSS2 is not available as a thru hull, correct?

It is available, but costly compared to the transom mount. The NSS8 right now is at an extremely good price. It is a hard to beat value.

NSS8 is the way to go IMHO. I just ordered one from BOE and at an incredible price by the time the rebate is applied.

This hull has 24* of deadrise. If thru hull mounting the LSS-2, would I need a pair of them?

I have a new LSS-1 transom mount transducer available to me. If I decide not to thru hull the LSS-2 and use the LSS-1 instead, would I be losing much performance (if any)? My motor is on a bracket so I'm hoping shadowing is not as great a concern for transom mounting.

Get the NSS8, you will be very happy. I have the NSS12 and NSS7 in my boat. The 7 is too small for using in split screen mode IMO. I don't think there is a structurescan transducer for thru hull application. I have the LSS-2 transom mount and it works flawlessly. It is amazing what that thing shows me out there.
Good Luck!

Wouldn't a B175W work as well for my application?

Yes you would need the pair for Structure Scan and a B175w would be a great additional tool to add to your arsenal .
