Default used antennas

i was given 2 antennas off a damaged boat. i am not much of a radio man but have some idea of how they work. one a digital 529 and a shakespear 5225. can you test them by measuring the resistance across the wire or would connecting to a transmiter with a swr meter be a better test. if you measure the resistence, what should it be. many thanks

If you can't get the answers here, try emailing the mfrs, and if that doesn't work, you might try a boaters world or West marine. Carry your vohm with you. Lord knows lately WM and BW haven't been any other use.

Use a power/SWR meter. About $40 at BW. You will need the accessory cable also. You will then know which antenna has better performance with your radio

You can't tell much from a resistance measurement. Either get the SWR meter or just hook them up and try them.
