Default Garmin Handheld Gps 72

I have/had a backup garmin handheld 72. It took some "light" spray this week while cleaning the boat. Not sure how much "light" spray, but obviously enough to get inside the unit. I can see the water on the screen.

Here is my question, the gps is 2 years old and only cost $150. I doubt it is worth the money to have it fixed even if it was possible. Even though it is out of warranty, I think it only had a 1 year, do you think garmin will repair it for free since it is considered and advertised by them to be waterproof and submersible?

I tried to call them today on my cell phone and 10 minutes into the call on an automated recording I was told to expect a 30-45 minute wait for the next available representative. So I figured I would call them later this week and not burn an hour of cell minutes.

Just wondering if anyone had any similar experience and what they told you. Thanks...

email them.

I have the same unit. Should not let water in.

Just send it in and let them worry about it. You will need the info cited above to be sent with the unit.
