Default Small Boat Radar - Furuno vs JRC vs ??

Looking for any input on small boat radar systems. The good, bad, and ugly about furuno, jrc or any other brands. Already have all other electronics (furuno depth, Garmin GPS and SH VHF) so I need a stand-alone system.

Thanks in advance!

Furuno 1623 has a better display by far. It also has better definition.

Dont rule out sitex's T-721 or 741. They are full color displays for the same price and definition.

I have a JRC 1500 and it works great - very readable and easy to use...do a search on this - it has been discussed extensively in the past 90 days

I have had 2 JRC 1800 Radar/Plotter units on 2 separate boats for 3 years and both work excellent for the $. Easy to read and follow. Furuno cost a lot more and I have had them in the past but could not justify the added cost when upgrading.

Have had the Furuno 1623 going on 3 years, I like it! It sees nearly everything I need it too!

I went Furuno because gps /chartplotter was furuno and factory cable did the interface. Am happy with what I use it for.

Right now JRC is getting ready to rerelaese their 1500MK II and have dropped their 1800CP from the line up
but JRC still has their 1000 MKII RADAR 1.5 KW 12IN.DOME 15ME I/C on the market..
Just a heads up for those who are looking....

I vote for the Furuno 1623, I find it to be super accurate up to the 6-8 mile range after that I seem to get some false returns, it could be my settings adjustments though.

I say JRC. I have the 1800 CP and its got much better display quality then the Furuno 1623 and day of the week. I looked at them both hard before I purchased. Plus the JRC is color and is a color chartplotter as well. The radar is easy to use and is very very accurate and pics up the smallest things on the water.
