Any one know a way to get light scratches out of display screens?

I had the same issue (screen scratched) after removing a RM C120 offshore after a failure (power cycling) after some research what I have come to understand is there is no way to repair these screens yourself. From what I have been able to determine your only option is to return the product to the manufacturer and have them replace the anti-glare screen. In the case of Raymarine the unit must be returned to the factory, this is not something that can be corrected even by an authorized RM dealer.

Do not attempt to use Plexus (it removes the antiglare finish) or glass repair kits, which invariably contain a disclaimer that states that they will not work on anti-glare screens.

Just as a reminder, the only way to clean a RM display with the special cloth/cleaning rag provided by Raymarine, do not used paper towels, as they can/will scratch the screen and cause even more damage. If anyone else has more to add I love to hear it as I learned most of the above lessons the hard way.

purplemoo.com

They sell a screen protecting film that is very good. I got 4 sheets of it for $12 for my Garmin 2010C.

hneidere,

Did you send your unit back to Raymanrine? If so, what is the cost for replacement. Unfortunately, my screen is scratched smack in the middle!

thanks!

Looking at Purplemoo's website, they also sell a scratch remover cream for LCD screens. Might be worth a try, especially if you're going to bite the bullet and replace it anyway.
