Default VHF antennae Help

Guys
I have some beat up VHF antennas and looking to replace. The have a Icom 502. Is there any advance to getting a bigger than 8 foot antennae and/or a digital antenna? I have a 29 foot center console. What would you recommend? Should I continue to use the splitter for the radio of just dedicate an antenna for radio and vhf. Looking for best posible VHF performance.

Please give me recommendations

Steve

I would go with a Shakespear 5225xt for vhf only. I put one on my 2320 Parker pilot house, sitting at my dock 300' from a metal building I was able to trans/recev 21 mi away.

"Digital Antenna" is only a brand name. Other than DSC, nothing about VHF transmission is digital. Shakespeare 5225XT is a good mid-grade antenna.
