Furuno 1870F . How good a unit is it ? Does the 8 inch 587 have speed with the transducer. I don't know if I want to go with a Garmin or a Furuno. Give me some though.

I have a 587 with a through hull transducer and it is great. I also have a garmin plotter with a transom transducer. The garmin transducer had to be replaced. The furuno is a much better unit. Get the furuno. If I had to replace the electronics on my boat, I would go completely furuno. I am not pleased with the garmin.

I had Furuno on my last boat and thougth the setup was great. However, I just purchased (finding new newest boat through THT) a Grady. The previous owner just installed a Raymarine C120. It works very well and I have not even touched the surface of all the amenities it has to offer. So I decided to purchse a C97 and sister the units together and use the C97 for the fishfinder.( I like the idea of seeing everything in front of me instead of changing screens.) I'm looking forward to seeing how everything works this spring.
