Default Is the raymarine RD424HD worth extra over RD418HD

I want to add a radar to my Raymarine fit out and not having been experienced with them in the past would appreciate feedback on wether the RD424HD is worth the extra dollars over the RD418HD?

I'm running twin screen C120W screens so don't believe the the bird mode function on these HD radars will work with the older system.

Any other comments or thoughts on the "real" difference would be valued.

Primarily I'm am fishing and radar would be for locating other vessels and navigation aid. No cruising waterways etc for me in my part of the world.

I'm running the RD418HD with a C120W, and you're correct, the C-Wide series doesn't support "bird mode" radar tuning (while the E-Wide series did). I can't comment on the difference between the 18" and 24" domes, but from an aesthetic point of view, my 18"er looks huge on my 25' boat. It's sort of a good, better, best choice. I took some camera pics to compare with the simultaneous radar image. For my purposes, I find the 18" performance to be acceptable. The radar pic was taken 7 seconds before the the harbor pic. Off my starboard side, the radar is showing the sportfisher, a channel marker, and a small skiff. Another channel marker on my port side is out of view.
