Default Autopilot for 38' Carver SANTEGO with Volvo Penta

I am looking for an autopilot for my 38' Carver santego. It has twin inboard Volvo Penta diesels with outdrives. I want something that I can use out of the box and it will not require reading a whole book to learn it, and it could integrate with my Garmin 178C GPS. Any good suggestions? (cost matters)
Also want to know if there is an autopilot that also integrates with my Raytheon R10 Radar, so I don't have to stay up on the bridge all the time while I am trolling.

Well most are going to require some knowledge from your side ... and simply setting and going about with out a watch of sorts is risky at best....

For your boat

The Simrad AP25 or 26 would cover your app

But so would several others
the
Nautaicmatic TR-1
or
Raymarine larger 8001 series...

One type of steering system do you have? Some of the Volvo setups are odd and take some expertise to work with. The Simrad is the best pilot to work with the system I am refering to.

Simrad has a new "virtual feedback" autopilot. It is their autopilot without the rudder feedback. Rudder feedback mounting can be a problem on in/out drives so this is the way to go. Simrad is the number one autopilot worldwide.

The AP16 is right on the border of being to small ... you really are needing the AP25 for your application...

We forget the added weight we put in boats when they are loaded....
