Default FURUNO 1650D chartplotter dgps problem

hello and help if you can.
I bought a new boat and it has a furuno 1650d chartplotter/dgps on it.
problem is:I can not get a fix to a satalite??? I checked the manual and there is nothing there?
I checked the cable from the unit to the antenna and it looks good.
the boat was moved about 100 miles north from ocean city md to georgetown md.
thanks, doug

Did the 1650 work in Ocean City? If yes then it ought to work in Georgetown; 100 miles should make no difference as long as the antenna has a clear view of the sky.

If it worked in O.C. but not in Georgetown, with a clear view and you're waiting long enough for the 1650 to initialize itself, then try looking at the satellite diagnostic page to see what that might tell you about the reception. Anything happen to the antenna or anything in transit from O.C. to Georgetown?

BTW you say "new boat" but is that a brand new boat with a brand new 1650, in which case you shouldn't mess with it but just let Furuno fix it under warranty. Or as is most likely since they don't make the 1650 any more, is that a new-to-you boat with an 'old' 1650? I've had mine for over 6 years and it's worked flawlessly (knock on wood!).

Good luck.

I have an 1810C and had a similar problem. Corrected it by going to system setup and clicked on "internal antenna or external antenna"......Bullcat.
