Default Wireless CCTV Security Cameras through Marina WiFi

Right now, the security cameras on my boat transmit their video images over a land line telephone attached to the boat. The goal is to have the CCTV video images from the cameras broadcast over the WiFi network that my yacht club just put in. I know that I can connect the CCTV switcher to a video capture card on the back of a PC that is connected wirelessly to the internet and view the images remotely in that fashion. However, I was hoping to find a device that takes the CCTV video images in, broacasts them wielessly on the WiFi network thereby eliminating the need for a stand alone computer to do that job. Does anyone have any ideas or thoughts on whether such a device might exist - (I am sure it does) and if so, how much it would cost? Thanks.

I just checked out Linsys and they have such a device but it is also a camera. I do not need more cameras onbaord as I aleady have 4 for this purpose. I was looking more for a black box type device without a camera.

I know Toshiba makes a wireless IP addressable camera. If you more info, send me an e-mail. I know the Toshiba rep and she is very helpful.

It sound like you are looking for a wireless web server with video ports.
I dont think such a dedicated device exists and if it does, its probably more
expensive than dedicated cameras. I use a cheapie on my boat (D-Link DCS-900W)
that I got for about $90. Not good at night, but its just for fun.:

"wireless web server with video ports" - that is exactly what I am looking for. Once again. just trying not to have to replace the four dome mounted cameras already on board for this purpose.

Just recently purchased a "IP Video 9100A Plus Network Video Server" but have yet not completed the install so I can't report on how it works.
The unit is about the size of a pack of cigs and has 4 video and 1 audio inputs and a RJ45 output jack.
Purchased the unit from a seller on Ebay for @ $150.00 w/shipping (just checked and the seller is no longer selling on Ebay)
You can do a search "IP Video 9100 Plus" and it will put you on several firms that sell the unit.
If you EBay the category is:

Consumer Electronics>Gadgets & Other Electronics>Surveillance>
Surveillance DVR>Other Surveillance DVR

Hope this helps in your search

Jay- thanks. Since it has an ethernet jack, I presume you need to hook it up to a PC to get online. I was looking for an all in one server which would also serve as the PC without the need for a separate computer. In any event, I'd like to hear how your works when it is hooked up.

Would not require a PC at the camera site. Email me a fax number and I will fax you the info sheet I have on the unit. Have'nt figured out how to attach files here yet.

Fax should be there.
Remembered that I had saved the manufacturers site when I was doing my research (here it is in case you or anyone else on the board might be interested)

Thanks so much. I've got my IT people looking into it. I guess you will also need some sort of bridge or router but that is an inexpensive item to get.

I think that's correct - you will need a wireless router behind the video web server to send it to your marinas system.
I've been held up for @ 2months waiting the only cable provider in my marina to bring the necessary cable to my slip. Got to give them another call.
Nice thing about the 9100 it has a motion detection function that you can set up to Email you 10 frames of what ever trips the motion detection level you establish.

I'm not sure if that helps him because he needs wireless. He would
need some sort of stand alone wireless to wired eth adapter.

Actually, it looks like that device exists:

Thats all fine and dandy but the wireless network with in your marina probably has a fire wall and you will need to re route your video feeds in front of the fire wall and you will also need a static IP address from the internet provider unless you have a nucleas type server that can go out and find the mac address of your camera or DVR. There are a couple of diffrent solutions to your problems. Install IP retrival system and install DVR that will be able to be accessed thru web address rather then static IP address. This way once you connect your system to wireless internet network you can access it with your remote software and be able to do every function of the dvr and cameras remotely anywhere in the world as long as you have remote software and intrenet connection. Or you can get a cctv web server from Axis or sony and do the same.

I am not sure I understand. Can you explain in a little more detail (and less techy) and can you provide an example of a web server that would do the trick.

Here is a couple of examples of web servers. You can do a search on the web for them. I don't want to post the websites because this forum will be all over me calling me a freakin spammer. I think the best product for you to use would be a Sony SNT-V504-4 4 channel videonetwork station or a SNT-V304. If you have any questions feel free to email me. I am local to you so I might be able to help you with it.
