Default Lowrance HDS7 Image Snap Shot

Can an image of the chart screen be taken?

There is nothing I can find in the menu or the manual about this.

Was wondering if a chart image can be recorded like the sonar?

You can 'Screen Capture' the chart page but you can't record it, without a CamOne or the likes.

What I meant was you can only RECORD sonar data. IOW you can't play back the chart side when you get home.

Thanks for the response. Didn't use right terminology. I've only had the unit a few weeks and have not owned this brand before.
In the sonar section of the manuel, there is a section on "Logging Sonar Data". It goes on to state "A sonar log is a recordof sonar activity.." indicating the activity is recorded over a period of time.

My question is, can a log of chart activity be recorded in a similar manner. If so, I cannot find a procedure in the manual. Was hoping someone familiar with these units could enlighten me if this is possible.

Second question. Can a single image of the screen be captured to show a moment in time similar to the print screen function on a computer? I see images on the web and was wondering how this is done.

Press the 'PAGES' and 'POWER' keys at the same time for a screen capture.

NO, there is no way to record chart data.

If its just a HDS7 then:

There is a option on one of the menu pages that says "screen capture", mark that bubble on. Then when you want to take a pic push the power button one time (do not hold it down), just push it once. It'll take a sec and then say screen captured. To find the pic go through the pages menu to the info page and at the bottom you will see files, go there to see saved info.

If its the HDS 7 Touch:

You press the Pages and Power keys at the same time

Don't know of this helps but you can create a track/trail that will display a line on your chart of where you've been - and you can create multiple tracks, stopping/starting the recording and choose which one or more tracks to display.

It's not a sync with sonar data or anything but at least a record of where you did go.

And don't forget that when running, the HDS has "track back" in that you can scroll on your sonar and the cursor on the chart (split display) will show where that sonar data was - useful if you run over a school of fish or structure and want to go back and drop a waypoint.
