Default Which GPS/Depth finder combo to buy?

I am buying a 2014 21' Contender and will need to put a GPS/depth finder combo on it. Budget is about $1000-$1500. What do you recommend? Also, will be buying a CD player and a couple speakers. Any recommendations on that too?

In that price range you are looking at 7 inch screens. Either the NSS7, Garmin 740s or the Gen2 HDS 7 are all good options.

Beside the excellent units mentioned by Parthery you can also consider the Garmin 547xs CHIRP.

I'm thinking about the Garmin 740. Which transducer would you recommend?

What is your fishing depth?
The 740s can use either a single element 600 watt or a multi element 1 kw transducer depending on your fishing requirements.

The 740s with B60 would serve you well. Structure scan would also be nice in your depths, but the best choice for that option, the HDS 7 Touch, is slightly above your price range. The 547xs would also be very nice, but not touch screen.
